Wow! On Saturday, April 9th , two LMST teams competed in the Nova Scotia Destination Imagination (DI) tournament. DI is a fun, hands- on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, curiosity and courage through academic Challenges. These Challenges blend STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education with the arts and social entrepreneurship. Students who participate learn invaluable 21st century skills as well as patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process.
Each year more than 150,000 students in more than 30 countries participate in a local DI program and work to complete a DI Team Challenge. Each Challenge is an open-ended project that teams work on over an extended period of time, usually 2-4 months. Seven new Team Challenges are offered each year in: Engineering, Technical, Scientific, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Service Learning (Project Outreach) and Early Learning Challenge (Rising Stars!).
This year LMST fielded two excellent teams in the Scientific and Fine Arts categories. Our Scientific team, the LMST Leopards (pictured above with Mme. Stoilov, absent: Charlie) took home 2nd place in the provincial tournament!

Congratulations LMST Leopards! Outstanding work!!
