Cross Country Running 2016-17

CROSS COUNTRY 2016/17

 

Cross country practices will be held at lunch time. Students interested in running cross country are to meet in the gym PROMPTLY at the lunch hour bell. Everyone is welcome.  We will run first then eat lunch.

  • Grade 3: bring lunch to the gym. After running they will eat in a Grade 3 class (tba) before joining their classes outside.
  • Grade 4, 5 and 6: after running will eat in their normal lunch locations.

 

All students must:

  • come to practice prepared to run! No boots, flip flops, crocs, sandals etc! This means  **SNEAKERS PLEASE!**
  • be ready to try their best!

PRACTICES

Grade 3 and 4: Fridays, Sept. 23 to Oct. 21 (no practice Sept. 30, PD day)

Grade 5 and 6: Thursdays, Sept.22 to Oct. 20,

 Other practices to be determined as needed.

 

Cross Country Meet at Inglis Street School

Date and time to be finalized – likely the week of October 11th.

 

 

Youth Running Series – Capital Health School Participation Challenge

All runners are encouraged to participate in the Youth Running Series Races for additional practice and FUN but did you know there’s a school competition too? It’s called the Capital Health School Participation Challenge.

 

Here’s how it works:
There are around 9-10 Youth Running Series (YRS) races starting in April and ending in October. When registering for a running event you can also indicate which school you attend. After each YRS running event, the school with the most runners receives a beautiful plaque. At the end of the season the schools with the most runners accumulated over the series of YRS races will be awarded cash prizes!
