Winter Music Night – date TBA

This winter, likely in Gorsebrook Jr. High’s Gymnasium; the students enrolled in Band, Choir and Strings will present an evening of musical learning. As soon as we have firmed up the details for the performance in 2017, we will post them below.

When: TBA

Time: TBA

Students are asked to arrive no later than 35 minutes before the performance for tuning and necessary time needed to assemble and to be ready for a prompt start. The evening should be one hour in length. You and your child are expected to stay for all of the group’s presentations.

Where: Gorsebrook Jr. High Gymnasium (South and Robie).

Please plan to drop your child at the front doors of the school and then proceed to the parking lot driveway – the next right after exiting the drop-off drive in front of the school. Carpooling is encouraged as Gorsebrook has a limited amount of parking. You can also access the basketball area behind the school by entering off of Robie. We are at Gorsebrook due to a space issue in LMST’s gym.

Dress for your child – at this level we prefer students to wear dark bottoms and a white top (no T-Shirts with Logos, please).

Do not feel you need to make an extra purchase if your child does not already have something to wear like described. Being there is more important.

Tickets? $$? –There are no tickets or cost involved with attending this evening.

We do however request that you please bring a non-perishable food item that can be placed in a specially marked Feed Nova Scotia Box that I will leave just inside the gym doors.

Expectations- It is expected that all students enrolled in the music programs will attend for this evening’s presentation of learning.

Piano, riding, swimming, hockey are all good and important too – but missing this evening is like not showing up for the game – in effect letting the other members down by not being present. As well, these presentations are an expectation and part of the curriculum your child is involved in and important to their overall success. And as mentioned above, it is expected that you and your child will remain for the entire evening (about one hour in length) to provide an opportunity to hear what other grade level students are doing. As well it is disruptive, to say the least, to have children and adults leaving when the evening is still under way.

Questions or Concerns – If you have any questions relating to your child in my part of the program for strings, please do not hesitate to contact me at

Thank you – Finally, I want to thank you for all your support of your child’s musical education and for our programs at LeMarchant St. Thomas School and Halifax All-City Music. I would also like to thank Mr. LeBlanc, Principal at Gorsebrook, for allowing us to use his facilities, as well as the supporting classroom teachers and staff of LMST for their help in making this evening a success.

Mr. Burke (Band), Mr. Miller (Choir), and I are looking forward to an exciting evening of success for your child.

Thank you,
